Photos are one of the most common, essential, and basic security features in an ID card. It serves as a quick and easy way to verify a persons’ identity. This feature is not foolproof because it can be replicated. However, ghost images can be used as an additional level of security. Ghost images are smaller versions of the original photo printed semi-translucent. Some other techniques for creating ghost images on ID cards are etching and perforation.
