Microtext is a security feature that uses almost unnoticeable print to prevent unauthorized copying of ID cards. Microtext printing is common in passports, currencies, and other highly secure forms of identification. It can be incorporated into a design or simply as text. However, to the human eye, it only appears as a thin line. The ID has to be inspected under a magnifying glass or microscope for those lines to be seen as clear text. Microtext printing requires special industrial equipment to produce. It cannot be duplicated by laser printers, inkjet, or dye-sublimation, making it one of the most secure features.
